one little monkey jumping on the bed

He fell off and scraped his leg.

I didn't take any other pictures but it bruised up all around pretty good.

the lesson to learn here:

NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED!

(yeah right, how long do you think that lasted? not even 24 hrs.)

At the Parade chillin' and lovin' it

In all the times I've watched Embrie dance in dance class, I've never seen her bust a move like this! It was so cute and funny! I guess girls really do just wanna have fun.

a day in the life

First time Motorcross

I took the kids to motorcross at the Rocky Mountain Race Way -per our pass of all passes, Brad was planning on going but got delayed at work at the last minute :( - We tagged along with another family that we are friends with. I don't know why we haven't done something like this sooner given the fact that Garrett has always loved anything with wheels or a motor. They loved it.

Shark Attack! Danger! Watch for 6 yr. old!

Seriously! 6 years old already!?!
The Friday before Garrett's birthday was his school spotlight day!
Me, Brad and the girls came to Garrett's school. We brought a poster with pictures of Garrett as a baby and of him today. We talked about when he was born and what good big brother he is. I told about Embrie naming Garrett as her best friend and wanting him to come to her birthday party. And I told about the night Garrett fed Maren for me while I bathed Embrie. He is such a good helper. Then we talked about his favorite things. (I'll list those later!) Then the kids got to ask Garrett questions about his favorite things. He got to show them some of his favorite toys and then hand out a treat to his whole class. He was so excited for this day. It was lots of fun.

On His birthday Papa and G.G. came to take him to lunch and have cake and icecream. Dad had to work late that day so he came home on his break and had cake and icecram with us and he opened gifts.
The boy asked for a skate board. . . . so his sisters gave him one I guess.
He got superheroes and a superhero book from Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Mark (they came to see him a few days before.) He got from mom and dad a Morphibian (remote control car of sorts) and a Batman costume.

For his birthday he wanted Sharks. And a swimming party. Let me just say we quit trying to have swimming parties a few years ago because early June in Utah is not predictable. I said ok this year because it had seemed to warm up early. Our party was to be a Wed. and on the Mon. before it was 90 deg. Wed.?  not so. It was 67 deg!!! So we changed the party to the next day and it was much warmer at least for the kids.

We played a race to paint the Shark game (that was Garrett's idea! very clever it was a hit!) Two teams took turns and raced to see who could paint their shark the fastest.
We did a fishing game each person had anumber on their fish and when everyone had caught one they traded their number in for a sea creature prize.
They played a water balloon relay race.
(also Garrett's idea, maybe that is why the party was successful!)

They threw water balloons and had cupcakes and ices cream. Whats not to love? Happy birthday Garrett!

The Green Gators

Garrett's 2nd time playing soccer. It had been a few years, but I am glad we did it again. His team was the green gators and he had a team full of our neighbors and a good coach that we knew too.

This time around Garrett really got into the game.

He gave 100%. He was a lot of fun to watch.

There isn't as much to say about Garrett's season because they didn't have any practices or special banquets, but he (unlike his sister) fully participated. He was so excited to play and to have friends on his team. We are actually signing him up for fall and the coming spring with the same team and coach. (A few on the kids on his team we just found out will be in his 1st grade class next year which is great!)
Good job Garrett!

The Little Nemos

Embrie's first season of soccer was  fun and uh. . . interesting. Their team name was the Little Nemos. She had a team full of friends she knew well and the coach was her best friend's dad. They even held practices each Wednesday night. Who could ask for more, right?!

First of all I should state that not all of these pictures were taken by me (he he he). I've had a lot of people compliment me on the photos I somtimes share, but it is actually my friend Nickie who takes the good ones, you'll be able to tell which ones are mine by the quality of the photo. Nickie's daughter happens to be Embrie's best bud Bailey in the picture below.

So Embrie actually loved soccer. You wouldn't be able to tell on game day. She spent most of the game doing this. (see below)

and this...

And a little bit of this.

Every once in awhile she did this!

She did get in  few good corner kicks and she had one good dribble down the field in one game, but for the most part she simply walked around. It was pretty funny. She would just get so shy at the games. Practice found her running around and kicking and all of it, but not on game day ha ha! But she was a cute little ball of bight orange out there anyway.

There was a team banquet and awards afterwards. Coach Oami handed out the trophies along with an action photo of each kid (in an orange frame) and an award where the coach told a cute story about them and why they were given that award. Embrie was given the "Oh... Alright" award because each time he tried to talk to her or encourage her to come and do something she would turn her back to him and look at the ground but once he turned away from her and did something else then she would follow him. Kind of like "well ok I guess I'll do it". This is petty funny cause she knows Oami and doesn't usually act that way around him, just at soccer!

This is by far the cheesiest grin I have ever seen her make, ha ha!

Good Job Embrie!
