Projects

Tis the season for home improvements I guess.

The Basement
Brad has been working on the basement a lot more this year and I am hoping we can finish it this year. We are currently putting up insulation, and when I say we I really mean He. (I actually did help for a couple nights.) Not because I am not willing to help but because someone has to watch the kids while the other works down there. And he is already doing such a great job without me. ;) And besides that I've had a few projects of my own!

Painting
For the last 4 weeks I've been painting. I've managed to paint my entire main level and stair well (18ft high) all by my lonesome. That is why it has taken 4 weeks, I am doing it on my own because I told Brad that I would and that he wouldn't have to do any painting (that is how I get my way) and he took my word full value. Plus like I said he has been working hard in the basement so it's pretty even. So you all know that as moms we get to do our projects when the kids aren't in the way, the house is clean, everyone fed, etc. Of course, I won't lie there are days when those other things took the back burner and I just painted.

Garden
The other thing I want to do. We did make some head way here, but there is much more to do. The main problem being that we do not own a truck. Every year since we've moved in I have started my flower/vegetable garden over from scratch. We live in the land of Soil? what is soil? I've never seen it before. This is clay territory. That is what we have and that is all there is. So each year we've added some better soil in and tried to make it a little better. However, our flower beds are already stacked up higher than our lawn which is on a little hill so the dirt- aka clay- tends to run down hill into the grass and we actually are in need of getting rid of a lot of that clay and replacing it entirely. Wish we had a truck to haul the clay away!

Projects
The more projects I start the more I find needs to be done. For example:

Lets paint the main level, which includes, patching the dents and dings and all that comes with it. Then while painting realizing that the trim needs to be touched up. The banister needs to be taken down, sanded and restained. And after doing all that the house has all been repainted except the kids rooms, might as well do those and get the whole thing over with!

The basement and the garden are a whole other story.

Seven Years Ago . . .

. . . . Brad said Yes!

Ha Ha! that is kind of a Joke. For those of you who are wondering if I proposed to him, close, but no I just wore him down until he gave in and proposed to me. ( A good story for another time)

I always say that I knew I liked Brad and wanted to date him from the first time he spoke to me. And for those of you who know Brad you know those can be rare moments! ;) But that is when I began to see who he really was and how awesome he is.

Bountiful Temple

I've learned a couple things since marrying Brad.
1. I 've come to realize that I've married my complete opposite.
- I talk too much, he talks too little
- the foods I like most are the foods he doesn't care for
- I like to dance to music in the car - he tries to hide when I do this so that
people don't know he is with me
- I like to talk to people, he often prefers not to
- He can tell the make/model of a car from 100 ft away with no hints I am still trying to remember which car we have ;)
. . . the list goes on
2. I've come to realize that it is probably a good thing (sometimes) that I married my complete opposite.
- fighting really doesn't happen- he has never yelled at me- it is hard to yell at someone who isn't yelling back (this is not to say disagreements don't happen)
- he is very patient
- if I am going to be talking alot it is a good thing he is there to listen, right?
- Having a social wife sometimes makes him be more social too (I think this is a good thing)
. . . the list goes on

I am glad that he showed up to the temple that day! ;)
I am glad that we are married in the temple.
I am glad that we have two amazing, beautiful children and that they got some of his good traits.
I am glad that I married a good man, a good father!
I am glad that I married my best friend.
I guess you could say I'm a pretty lucky girl!

dancing

this is another thing I loaded a couple weeks ago and never finished - I am not an expert blogger so I am not sure why the posts dates are the dates I started them and not the dates that I actually posted them, but oh well. . .

this was just cute and I posted it cause I wanted to.

he's gonna be a soccer player

Garrett's first soccer Game!

ok I started working on these posts two weeks ago! I loaded the pictures and figured I would get on the next day and finish and needless to say I've been very busy.
This is the only game he has had because last week's was cancelled due to weather. It was pretty funny, they'd had only one practice and of course still have not much of an idea of what they are doing. The other team was a head taller and seemed to have played last year so it was particularly funny!

Garrett gets to kick the ball inbounds. (one of the few times he kicked the ball)

Garrett is wearing #5 a fact that is very exciting to him since daddy wore #5 in little league.

These are pretty funny videos. Notice the awesome soccer abilities!

1. Running around - warm up

2. practicing his victory dancing - incase he makes a goal

3. Team work- grabbing his friend by the hand before he chases after the ball- no man should be left behind.

And I am learning that it is always exciting for a kid when they get to bring the treat. And ya, I brought squeez-its and cookies, you wanna say something about it? I was initially going to get something more nutritional, but somehow ended up leaving the store with these. hmmm guess I won't be getting the votes for "soccer mom of the year".

There are a few of Garrett's little friends on the team and he couldn't be happier about that!
Maybe by the end of the season I will be able to post some video with him actually kicking the ball.
Funny how we teach our kids constantly about not taking toys away from other kids and they only choose to listen on that one instance where they are actually supposed to go kick the ball away from the other kids!

Ain't She a Beautiful Baby

Embrie's 1 year old pictures are here! (I'm a couple months late, but really, no surprise there)

She's pretty darn cute If I do say so myself!

Swimsuit models eat your heart out!

Love this little chunkster!

Speed racer's medal

Got some pictures from my friend, Nickie who'd taken some for me while my camera had run off. Just had to add these. He wouldn't smile for the camera, this is his tough face, I think it is just funny and cute.

My little speed racer!

Back on the 10th of April I ran the Kiwanis 5k with a few friends. It was 2 weeks after the half marathon and I only got a few runs in before this race, so I wasn't too sure how I would do, but I thought it would be a fun one to do because they were including a Tough kids race. Garrett has been watching me train and was excited to watch me at the 1/2 so I thought he would like to have a race of his own to participate in.

As for my race I can't complain I ran it a 1 1/2 minutes faster than my last 5k. My time was 27:07. I was hoping to make it back in good time because the kids races would start 30min. after my race and I wanted to be there to run with him. So Garrett was my motivation.

Explaining to Garrett how the race would work.

And here he is giving me a kiss on the cheek before the race. What? yes he did give me I kiss on the cheek! I love these kisses from him. I don't get them a lot because lets face it, boys don't go around kissing their moms all the time.

He was pretty excited to have a kids race that he could do. I think he was smiling the whole time.

All of the kids got a medal and he is very proud of his! I was pretty proud of him too!
