Mom Chronicles

ENTRY #1
Reality Check

I remember one day back when I was pregnant with Garrett and realized that I was going to be able to be a stay at home mom I had this thought (and I am pretty sure I voiced it out loud to Brad):
"It's going to be so nice when I can stay home. I will be able to keep the house so clean."

ha ha ha ha!

1 Month went by so fast

6 weeks old and Maren is growing fast just like babies do. She is getting better head control and smiling some. She even has a favorite object in the house: the big clock that is currently hanging above our couch. She will stare at that thing forever and no colorful object or sound will make ber budge. She'll even find it from across the room. She is a sweetie. Her brother and sister sure do love her but man sometimes they scare me. Just in the last week she has been sleeping 5-6 hours at night! wahoo! (I hope I didn't just speak too soon.)

Daddy Daughter Date

So this is something we should do more often. A while ago Garrett and Brad took the trax train down to the front runner and the front runner to Ogden to go pick up our car that was there. Then they stayed and had dinner with Papa and G.G. and had ice cream. It made for a long, fun trip for Garrett and dad to spend some time together and they had fun. But Embrie was left behind to hang out with mom at home, which wasn't bad, but she was looking forward to the time when she would get to ride the train. So we decided it was a good time for her first official "date with dad". (I know she should have had one before now, but you know -good intentions and all that . . . better late than never.)

So one day awhile back, I think before Maren was born. Brad took Embrie on the train. Their trip was shorter but still lots of fun.

Daddy and Embrie on the trax train.

Stopped at Gardner Village and had an ice cream

then took a look inside the candy shop

brought a bag of candy home to share

This was a lot of fun for Embrie.

I think we'll be doing this stuff more often. Thinking up some fun ideas for a mom and son date.

"I'm ready for my close up Mr. Demille"

Maren had new born pictures taken. These pictures were taken when she was 5 days old. I've never been able to do this before because the other two had oxygen canulas over their faces and obviously weren't ready to be around people. I was a little nervous but I am glad that we did them because they turned out so cute.

Ok I know I am bias, but she is beautiful.

So far Maren is a very good baby. She's taking it easy on us.

I love sweet newborn cuddles. And she loves to be cuddled.

She's already over being swaddled. She likes to be wrapped, but not too tight and have her arms out.

She is a healthy baby!

Kindergarten

Well it finally happened. Garrett started kindergarten on Aug. 22
I can't believe that he has grown up so fast. It seems like just yesterday when I was holding a tiny little baby boy in my arms.
He has grown to be a smart and very energetic little boy.

He picked out a Transformers backpack. Guess you could say he's into those these days.

For the first day we drove to school and Brad was able to go in late to work so that he could be there to drop him off too. After the bell rang the kids lined up and waited for their teacher to come out and get them. Garrett's teacher is Mrs. Titus. She seems very nice.

And there he goes! Wave good-bye to my little-big boy!

After I picked him up we went to lunch at his choice (McDonald's :) and then he picked out an ice cream cake from the ice cream shop to share with Dad later that night and celebrate his first day of school.

We've been walking to school every morning and he has been riding his scooter - for some reason not ready to go for the bike yet. Last Friday was a special day when the kids got to meet the principle at a nearby park and walk with him to school for health and safety. So far so good, I think we're going to like the kindergarten thing!

(My eyes were a little watery as we drove home, but to my own amazement I didn't bawl like a baby.)
